When Should You Stop Wearing a Damaged Engagement Ring?

Some engagement-ring warning signs justify removing the ring until it can be assessed.

An engagement ring is often worn daily, which makes small changes easy to ignore. Certain symptoms are worth treating as an early warning rather than ordinary wear.

Stop wearing it if a stone moves

Any clicking or visible movement can indicate reduced security. A bent setting, missing claw or sudden distortion after impact is another reason to remove the ring.

Catching can be meaningful

A claw that repeatedly catches on clothing may be bent, lifted or worn. It is safer to investigate the reason than to simply file or push the claw at home.
